Barack Obama's victory in 2008 was the best thing that could have happened

In 2008, I made a radical statement that doomed my tenure as a member of one of the fastest rising Conservative political blogs and Internet radio programs. The statement made me anathema among Conservatives and Republicans so much that our shows and blogs actually became as much a target for sabotage and slander from the right as they had been from the left. In short, I had managed to accomplish the trick of being reviled equally by the extreme left and the extreme right- not an easy thing to do.
What was this radical proclamation? I stated that the election of Barack Obama would be the best thing that could happen to our country. I believed I was right then and, now, I believe it has been borne out.

Sometimes you have to burn the house down to save it.

After witnessing these hysterical anti-America, anti-Iraq, anti-Bush tirades for so long, I became convinced that what this snot-nosed, armchair liberal generation needed was a good old-fashioned chug of what they thought the wanted. Yes, let's give them exactly the liberal, totalitarian government they are asking for. Not a shot glass full, give them a keg of it and more. Let's give them all the secular humanist, America hating, Government-knows-best, anti-religious bigot, spend like a drunken sailor, pro-perversion, pro-illegal immigration government they can swallow. No, let's give them more than they can swallow. Let's give them so much Socialism that within 4 years they are vomiting it out, never to even entertain the notion of ever returning to it again.

Yes, let's give them Barack Hussein Obama.

My message was right then, it is right now.

As long as the forces of modern liberalism were allowed to operate under cover of darkness, there was never a chance of defeating them. I was convinced that what America really needed was to see modern liberalism unmasked. Turn the lights on and let the lunatics have full run of the asylum. I was certain that the result of 4 years of Barack Obama would make the American people so absolutely disgusted, appalled and nauseous that it would result in the eventual extinction of the entire power structure of modern day liberalism.
I was right.

Scott Walker's resounding win in Wisconsin actually tops the stunning upset wins of Chris Christie in New Jersey and Scott Brown in Massachusetts and the 63 seat pickup in the House of Representatives. All of those were political earthquakes, to be sure but have not resulted in much in the way of results on a national level- at least not yet.

The Scott heard 'round the world is an entirely different story. This is huge. Epic, even.

In both the 2000 and 2004 elections, it is well-known that on the ground corruption and union thuggery led to George Bush barely losing the state of Wisconsin (by 5,708 votes in 2000, by less than 12,000 in 2004). No state is a better example of the raw power of the public sector union machine. In 2010, Scott Walker was elected Governor and vowed to break up that strangle-hold. He kept that promise and the big union machine brought out all their guns to make him pay dearly for it.

They failed.

This is the first decisive victory in the war to save America for our children and our grandchildren by breaking the unholy alliance between union muscle and entrenched government corruption. This goes far beyond the state of Wisconsin and far beyond returning state budgets to balance (as Walker did).

This victory is going to be celebrated nationwide as another proof that the American people are finally getting it. It is not acceptable that a janitor can make $100,000 a year with overtime at taxpayer expense. It is not acceptable that teachers get lavish benefits, fully funded by taxpayers, including viagra and botox and trips to Europe even as the majority of their students cannot function at basic grade-level competency. It is not acceptable that compulsory dues are extracted from union members, and non-union members be required to pay fees that are used to protect the seats of entrenched union bosses and the politicians that do their bidding. Finally, it is definitely not acceptable that public sector employees get 90% of their full salary for life, as pensions, while bankrupting their states.

Public sector unions have protected government thugs who are directly targeting the nuclear family for destruction. From teachers who seek to give children access to abortion and contraception and indoctrinate them into accepting perversion and junk science, to child protective services, a government run child trafficking ring, that is about anything but protecting children. They are all protected by union muscle and the government puppets installed to keep them safe.

No more.

From New Jersey to Pennsylvania to Ohio to Michigan to Wisconsin, conservative Republican governors have been waging war against corruption and cronyism but Tuesday's result provided the first actual confirmation to the Republican party that they need to stay the course, and even step it up.

Fraudulent sick leave policies—which allowed employees to call in sick and then work the
next shift for overtime pay—have been ended. The government has stopped forcibly collecting
 union dues from workers’ paychecks.
Best of all, the myth that union bosses represent their members’ interests has been exposed as a lie.
Now that union dues are voluntary, tens of thousands of union members have stopped paying them.
Membership in the Wisconsin chapter of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal
Employees union (AFSCME) has dropped by half. Membership in the state’s American Federation of Teachers (AFT) is down by over a third. Given unions’ influential role in most elections, the
national implications of this trend are staggering. ~Source
Walker is not the only Republican Governor having success. Chris Christie's approval numbers are at record levels. However, Walker walked was the first to touch the third rail and survive an election. Now, it becomes open season on the public sector unions and the effect of this cannot be overstated. This is the first real sign that we are starting to take our country back.

It is difficult for me to imagine such a sea change in our country, if John McCain had won in 2008. I really think there very well may be better days ahead for our country.
