*Best of DTB #145* The Catholic Defender: An Act of Heroism

This past week (Monday), the tragic news reports about a young teenager at Chardon Ohio (T.J. Lane), brought a 22 Caliber pistal and a knife, and began to open fire on fellow students in the school cafeteria.

Three Students were killed and another remains in critical condition in a nearby hospital.

There was one other student who was wounded but was soon released. My heart goes out to these children and their families.

This is something that I would recognize in a war zone, but to see this in a public School in America is truly a tragedy. Coach Frank Hall , the assistant High School football coach immediately responded at the scene charging and yelling at the shooter causing him to flee.

He gave chase to the shooter placing himself in danger and preventing more children from being shot.

Thursday afternoon, Coach Hall told a news conference, "To the families of Danny, Demetrius and Russell, I want you to know that I was with them," clearly in an emotional moment, he said, "I prayed with them. I wiped their tears. And I know God was with them." Danny Parmentor, 17, Demetrius Hewlin, 16, and Russell King Jr., 17, all died from from their wounds.

May the perpetual light of the Lord, shine upon them now and forever, Amen.

Coach Hall also said he was simply, "Just a football coach and a study hall teacher," Coach, thank you for your quick thinking and action in responding to this terrible tragedy.

Showing himself to be simply someone who was on the scene, Coach recognized as the true heros of this tragady were the law enforcement and first responders as the real heros, but many of the students and faculty will never forget Coach Hall's quick response in saving other lives. I dedicate this song for all who have given their all. My wife was at the Emergency Room parking lot on November 5th at Fort Hood for a routine meeting when the dead and wounded came quickly pooring in. Heros are those who rise above a circumstance and responds thinking of others who are in the immediate need. Coach, you are a hero, God bless you!
