The Catholic Defender: Dead Beat Dads

We are living in a very confusing time. Family values have been totally ignored and rejected.

Children are learning how to have sex thanks to our government ran public school system.

However, with this knowledge, there are very little to say about values being offered with these programs.

This feeds right into the classic stereotypes of boys and girls moving towards puberty growing up.

Teenage boys are out to make conquests and the girls are looking to be wanted, accepted, and loved.

As a result of the rejecting of our Christian foundations, there are many children being born out of wed-lock, many being born without Fathers. Many of the Fathers are "Dead Beat Dads" who care little for the children they help create.

This has hit the black community the hardest. They have a 70% plus rate of children born out of wed-lock.

The institution of Marriage is under assault. The very foundations of the family is under attack.

Without direction, many of our youth are hopelessly caught in a trap.

It is not easy for teenage mothers raising children and still go to school. Careers are put on hold as our youth are many times growing up to fast in a fast paced world.

Everything in the media want to make the culture of the sexual revolution look enticing, fun, even recreational, yet unfortunately, the reality of this glamorous life style is misery.

I do want to praise these young women for having their children rather than aborting them. Abortion is never the answer.

Children simply become a throw away convenience for those who take no responsibility for their actions.

These "Dead Beat Dads" are for satisfying themselves at the expense of others.

How true it is of them that the bible warns, "But understand this: there will be terrifying times in the last days. People will be self-centered and lovers of money, proud, haughty, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, irreligious, callous, implacable, slanderous, licentious, brutal, hating what is good, traitors, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, as they make a pretense of religion but deny its power. Reject them. For some of these slip into homes and make captives of women weighed down by sins, led by various desires, always trying to learn but never able to reach a knowledge of the truth. Just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so they also oppose the truth, people of depraved mind, unqualified in the faith. But they will not make further progress, for their foolishness will be plain to all, as it was with those two" (2 Timothy 3:1-9).

The confusion surrounding this issue is costing Americans billions of dollars who have to pay the bill for all the Sexually Transmitted Diseases which there are more than 60 variations out there today.

There are millions infected, an incredible 1 in 4 Americans statistically affected. How right St. Paul writes about how these young men will take advantage of women making them captives to their own desires.

If you are a young person, it is important that you build your foundation on the Catholic Faith. You need to think of your future finishing high school and college.

You can make something of yourself with a career. The military is a good career. It will take a lot of discipline on your part, but for those of you who are willing to do this, you will be blessed by God immeasurable for your faithfulness to him.

To bring in a child into the world is a very beautiful thing. A child represents the opportunity we have to help make this world a better place.

Love of God and for our loved ones is the correct answer. St. Paul warns further, "So be imitators of God, as beloved children, and live in love, as Christ loved us and handed himself over for us as a sacrificial offering to God for a fragrant aroma. Immorality or any impurity or greed must not even be mentioned among you, as is fitting among holy ones, no obscenity or silly or suggestive talk, which is out of place, but instead, thanksgiving. Be sure of this, that no immoral or impure of greedy person, that is an idolater, has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God" (Ephesians 5:1-5).

If you have been away from the Catholic Faith, or you are interested in finding the truth, please contact your nearest Catholic Church and make an appointment to talk with a priest.

If you have not been Confirmed in the Catholic Faith, or you were raised outside the faith, please call your local Catholic Church and ask about the RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults).

Someone will be glad to hear from you. If you have not been to Confession for some time, please arrange a meeting with a priest at your local Catholic Church.

St. James gives this encouragement: "My brothers, if anyone among you should stray from the truth and someone bring him back, he should know that whoever brings back a sinner from the error of his way will save his soul from death and will cover a multitude of sins" (James 5:19-20)!

That is the power of the Confessional, the Mercy Seat of God. The Sacrament of His Divine Mercy!

The priest will steer you in the right direction. If you are single, please consider Jesus as He is the answer! Some of you might be able to identify yourselves with this video!
